In the case of death of children due to cough syrup in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, 75-year-old G., owner of Sresan Pharmaceutical Manufacturer. Ranganathan was arrested from his apartment in Kodambakkam, Chennai. Ranganathan has been arrested under a case registered by Madhya Pradesh Police, charging him under sections 105 and 276 of the Indian Judicial Code, and 27A Act. According to sources, after his arrest Ranganathan will also be taken to the cough syrup production unit Kanchipuram factory. It is alleged that the children who drank his company’s Coldrif Cough Syrup died. Till now 20 children have died due to drinking this syrup.
Children die after drinking cup syrup
This case started from Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh. Here many children died after drinking cough syrup. In Rajasthan too, children died after drinking syrup of the same company. Medical examination revealed that many poisonous chemicals were present in ‘Coldrif’ syrup. Consuming which caused serious damage to the kidneys of children. Within a few hours of drinking the syrup, symptoms of kidney failure started appearing, due to which the health of the children started deteriorating rapidly.
Coldrif Cough Syrup banned in these states
After the loss of lives of children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Coldrif Cough Syrup has now been banned in nine states including Punjab, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
