Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant said on Saturday that the decision of President Donald Trump to reduce the H1-B visa fee to US $ 100,000 would affect US innovation.
He said that this decision will now turn to Indian cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad, which will give new pace to India’s innovation and progress.
The Trump administration says that the purpose of this fee is to ensure that the people being brought to the country are really highly skilled and do not replace employees of American origin.
Kant said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘Donald Trump’s $ 1,00,000 H1-B fee will suppress US innovation, while accelerating India’s innovation. The closure of America for global talent will lead to the next generation laboratories, patents, innovations and startups towards cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurugram. India’s best doctors, engineers, scientific and innovative will get an opportunity to contribute towards India’s development and developed India. The loss of America will be the benefit of India.
As part of an adverse impact on Indian professionals working on visas in the US, Trump signed an announcement on Friday, which would increase the fee for H1-B visas to US $ 100,000 annually. This is the latest step of administration’s efforts to tighten the immigration.
JSA Advocates and Solicitors partner, Sajai Singh, said on Saturday that the US levy a fee of US $ 1,00,000 annually on H1-B visa, the cost for Indian IT companies and professionals will increase the cost for those who are very much dependent on this visa.
