Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting in the national capital to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, saying “security forces will continue to have complete freedom of action to crush any attempt to threaten peace in the region”.
The meeting, which lasted for about three hours, was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Army Chief, Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and Director General of Police, Director General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and other senior officials of the Government of India, Army and Jammu and Kashmir administration.
Reaffirming the Modi government’s commitment towards a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said the sustained efforts of security agencies have “virtually paralysed” the terrorist networks nurtured by anti-India forces. He assured that “the Center will continue to provide all necessary resources to strengthen counter-terrorism operations.”
Shah lauded the proactive approach of security agencies and said, “Security forces will continue to have complete freedom of action to crush any attempt to threaten peace and security in the region.” He also appreciated the steps taken by the Union Territory administration and security forces after the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack and said these steps have helped in improving the overall security scenario in the Valley.
Emphasizing the importance of coordination among all agencies, the Home Minister called for increased vigilance to completely eliminate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. With the onset of winter, Shah directed security forces to ensure that terrorists do not take advantage of snowfall to intrude across the border.
