New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing efforts for a trade deal between India and America, India has decided to restart international postal services to America. The Ministry of Communications, Government of India is pleased to announce that all types of international postal services to the United States of America (USA) will restart from Wednesday, 15 October 2025. Customers can now send parcels, documents and gifts with affordable and transparent shipping under the DDP model. Due to changes in US customs rules, India had temporarily suspended postal service to the US from August 25.
The Department of Posts said that the resumption of parcel service is an important milestone in strengthening India’s international postal and export logistics network and reflects the growing role of India Post in supporting the government’s vision of inclusive, export-led economic growth. According to the order issued by the Donald Trump administration on July 30, the exemption from customs duty on goods up to $800 was abolished. Due to this, the Government of India had decided to suspend postal services.

Under this new arrangement, all customs duties applicable on shipments to the US will be collected in advance in India at the time of booking and remitted directly to CBP through approved eligible parties. This will ensure seamless delivery to the recipient in the US without any additional charges or delays.
