Amidst the ongoing tension between Iran and Israel, there is news of relief for the Indian students stranded there. Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has informed that around 100 Indian students are returning to India on 14 and 15 March 2026. The largest number of these students are from Kashmir. These students are not returning through any government rescue mission, but through commercial flights.
What is the travel route and flight information?
These students will leave for the border of Armenia by road from Urmia city of Iran on March 12. After reaching there, they will reach New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport via Dubai with the help of Flydubai Airlines from the airport in Armenia. This is not a free rescue operation from the government, so the students have booked the tickets at their own expense.
Foreign Ministry’s instructions regarding security
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised all students in Iran to avoid sharing their location and other personal information on social media. Recently, false news of the death of a Kashmiri student was spread on social media, which JKSA has declared completely wrong and has confirmed that all the students are safe. Along with this, India’s new Baggage Rules 2026 will also be applicable on these passengers, under which luggage up to Rs 75,000 can be brought without duty charge.
Special arrangements for students at Delhi airport
After reaching Delhi’s IGI Airport, the Jammu and Kashmir government has arranged for Deluxe AC buses to take these students to their homes. Doda administration is also in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs to help the 5 students of their area. Apart from this, the Indian Embassy is working closely with the authorities there to safeguard the academic records of those students who have missed the medical examinations to be held in the month of March.
