Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has taken a dig at the statements of former US President Donald Trump. The Iranian minister made fun of Donald Trump’s statement in which he commented on the selection of Iran’s next Supreme Leader. Khatibzadeh asked, can you imagine this kind of colonial approach? He said that America should pay attention to its domestic politics. This statement has come at a time when Iran’s tension with America and Israel in the Gulf region is at its peak and it is being called an ‘existential war’.
Strait of Hormuz and relief for India
Iran has clarified that it has not completely closed the Strait of Hormuz. Khatibzadeh said Tehran is a responsible power and has no such intentions at this time. According to research, this route is closed for American and Israeli ships but is open for Indian ships. This is a news of relief for the Indians living in Gulf and the Government of India. America has also given India a 30-day waiver to buy oil, due to which the supply chain and oil prices are expected to remain stable.
