A Delhi court on Monday framed charges against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her son and state opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav in the alleged IRCTC scam case. With this, preparations for the case against him have started before the elections in Bihar.
Special Judge Vishal Gogane framed common charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating against Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav in this case. This case pertains to alleged irregularities in awarding the contract for operating two hotels of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to a private company.
The court also framed charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy against Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav. The court asked the three accused whether they consider themselves guilty or will face trial? All three accused pleaded not guilty and said they would face trial and challenge it.
This case pertains to corruption in the tender allotment of two IRCTC hotels located in Ranchi and Puri, when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. It is alleged that the land deals were struck to benefit the family in exchange for hotel allotment.
It was told that Lalu Prasad Yadav reached the court in a wheelchair. Tejashwi Yadav and Rabri also reached the court with Lalu Yadav. At the same time, the court may also frame charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav today in the land-for-job scam case.
