In such a situation, the number of dead is also expected to increase. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased. At the same time, the Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the Tamil Nadu government on the accident. President Draupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi have expressed grief over the accident. CM Stalin has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
This rally of actor Vijay was in Velusamipuram on the Karur-Erod Highway. Vijay came on stage at around 8 pm on Saturday night. Whereas, people were frozen here since noon. There was approval of 30000 people from the police, but doubled people gathered on the spot. TV President Vijay was giving a speech. At the same time, party workers told them that some people are fainting. On this, Vijay threw water bottles from the stage towards the crowd. After announcing the disappearance of a girl, Vijay asked the police and the people to find her. Meanwhile, there was a stampede. The number of people who reached, were more than the estimate. People came with children. They were hungry and tired. Eyewitness named Suriya told that people kept falling when there was a stampede. The ambulance could not reach them due to the crowd. This caused difficulty in rescue. A woman named P. Shivshankari said that her neighbor fell down. Shivshankari said that shouted to help, but no one could move due to the crowd. People were not able to breathe. Similarly, all more eyewitnesses told how the situation became in Vijay’s rally and after that the stampede did not give people a chance to recover. CM MK Stalin described the incident as very tragic. He also met the families of the victims and consoled them.
