Due to closure of airspace in Kuwait, the Indian Embassy has taken an important step for the Indians living there. Ambassador Parmita Tripathi held a special meeting with Jazeera Airways on 11 March 2026. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure the safe travel and operation of flights of Indian expatriates stranded in Kuwait. Kuwait’s airspace is closed due to security reasons from 28 February 2026, after which the Embassy is in constant touch with the airlines companies.
Important information related to flights and ticket cancellation
After the closure of direct flights from Kuwait, for the convenience of passengers, services are being started from other routes like Riyadh from March 12, 2026. Air India and Indigo are also helping in this work. Between March 1 and 7, more than 52 thousand Indians have successfully returned home from Gulf countries. The rules have been made clear for those who now want to book or cancel tickets.
Jazeera Airways’ one-way economy ticket from Kuwait to Kochi, Mumbai or Delhi ranges between 32 to 40 KWD (about Rs 9 thousand to 12 thousand). In peak season or on immediate booking, this fare can even go beyond 55 KWD. If the ticket is canceled or changed 4 days before the flight time, a charge of 17 to 19 KWD will have to be paid. If there are 1 to 3 days left for the flight, this cancellation charge will increase to 20 to 22 KWD. In case of partial cancellation, 70 percent of the total fare or the unexpired one-way fare will be deducted.
Embassy advisory and helpline numbers
The Indian Embassy is working with the Kuwait government to rescue passengers stranded in transit. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also created a special control room for this. Ambassador Parmita Tripathi has clearly said that the safety of the Indian community is her biggest priority. All four Indian Consular Application Centers present in Kuwait are functioning normally.
The Embassy has appealed to Indians not to go out unnecessarily and not to use any kind of aerial photography or drones. For any emergency, a 24/7 helpline number +965 6550 1946 has been issued, on which you can call or WhatsApp. CBSE Class 10 exams to be held between March 7 and 11 have been canceled and Class 12 exams scheduled for March 7 have been postponed. The Embassy has given strict instructions that people should avoid rumors and trust only official information.
