New Delhi. RJD leader and former Union Railway Minister Lalu Yadav, who was surrounded by the land scam case in exchange for land, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding the cancellation of the FIR, filed by the CBI. Lalu Yadav’s lawyer argued that it was mandatory to get approval before registering an FIR on the basis of PC Act but the CBI did not do so. Therefore, the CBI FIR should be canceled. However, Justice Ravindra Dudeja said orally that if it is accepted to not take approval, then it will only apply to crimes under the PC Act. The court has fixed September 25 for the next hearing of the case.
Earlier, Lalu Yadav had demanded the Supreme Court to stay the trial court proceedings, but the Supreme Court rejected his petition in July. The Supreme Court had asked the Delhi High Court to listen fast in the case. However, in view of Lalu Yadav’s age and his health, he was individually relieved during the trial. Lalu Yadav is accompanied by his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, daughter Hema Yadav and Misa Bharti in the land for job case.
The CBI has mentioned the names of 78 accused in its charge sheet. Lalu Yadav is accused that in the first term of the UPA government, when he was the Union Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009, he took his land at a cheap price instead of recruiting people in Group D jobs in Railways. Two companies named AB Exports and AK Infosystems were used for land transfer. Later, this company was transferred to the family of Lalu Yadav.
