Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and LeT module operator Shabbir Ahmed Lone, who was recently arrested in the Metro poster case, has been arrested by a team of Special Cell of Delhi Police on Monday.
According to officials, the accused is a suspected member of a sleeper cell linked to a terrorist organization.
Earlier on February 23, Delhi Police had arrested eight suspects linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The investigation revealed that the module was working with Shabbir Ahmed Lone, who had spent a decade in jail on terrorism charges, before fleeing to Bangladesh after being released on bail in 2019.
Shabir Ahmed Lone was in direct contact with top commanders of banned terrorist organizations Hafiz Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, who are the masterminds of the 26/11 attacks.
Delhi Police is currently interrogating the eight arrested people about whether they were planning to attack the temple or any crowded area.
According to sources, Lone was tasked with recruiting and radicalizing Bangladeshis living illegally in India. He had brainwashed the eight arrested people and attracted them towards the ideology of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Lone was on the lookout for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and provided them with fake identity cards like Aadhaar cards through brokers. According to sources, the accused were provided weapons to carry out the attack.
