A truck driver allegedly abducted after the road rage incident in Navi Mumbai has been freed from the house of former IAS Probationer Pooja Khedkar in Pune. The police gave this information on Monday.
Khedkar is accused of cheating the Civil Services Examination and taking advantage of OBC and Divyang quota in a wrong way.
Police said the alleged kidnapping took place on Mulund-Aaroli Road in Navi Mumbai Township on Saturday evening, when Prahlad Kumar (22) was driving his concrete mixer truck.
A Rabale police official said that the truck collided with a sports utility vehicle, after which there was an argument between Kumar and two people in the SUV.
The official said that after this, the SUV riders forcibly seated Prahlad Kumar in their vehicle on the pretext of taking them to the police station and escaped from the spot.
Based on the complaint of the truck owner, a case was registered against two unidentified persons under Section 137 (2) (kidnapping) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) on Sunday.
Police later found the SUV in Pune.
The official said that on the basis of technical evidence, the Navi Mumbai Police came to know that Prahlad Kumar was taken to Pune, after which a team went there on Sunday.
“We met the car and the victim, Pooja Khedkar’s bungalow,” the official said.
He said that initially Khedkar’s mother allegedly stopped the police from entering the house and quarreled with them.
According to him, the police team later managed to enter the house. He freed Kumar from there and brought him back to Navi Mumbai.
The official said that no arrests have been made yet. Police has issued a notice to Khedkar’s mother to appear for questioning.
“Further investigation is on to find out the identity of the kidnappers and their motive,” police said.
Khedkar has been accused of presenting wrong facts to avail reservation in his application for the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2022. He has denied all the allegations against him.
