At least nine people were killed and 22 injured when a bus skidded off the road and overturned in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitaram Raju district on Friday. Police gave this information.
Police said that 37 people, including the driver and a sweeper, were traveling in the bus from Chittoor to the neighboring state of Telangana. Six of these people are safe.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Bardar said the accident occurred around 4:30 am on the Chintoor-Maredumilli Ghat road near a Durga temple. “At least nine people died and 22 others were injured after the bus fell off the Ghat Road road,” Bardar told the news agency. The bus did not fall completely into the valley. The bus overturned… and got stuck there.
He said that the condition of four of the injured is critical. According to the officer, possibly due to dense fog, the bus driver could not see the turn at the accident site, which falls within the Mothugudem police station area. Baradar said the bus passengers were going from Chittoor to Sri Ram temple in Bhadrachalam, Telangana.
