Major accident in Venkateshwara Swamy temple, nine devotees died in stampede, PM Modi expressed grief, announced compensation

Nearly nine devotees were killed in a stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Kashibugga in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. While many others are said to be injured. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.

State Governor S. Abdul Nazir has expressed deep sorrow and condolences on this accident. Expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased, he has given instructions to the district administration for better treatment of the injured. The Governor said that this is a very sad and heartbreaking incident, which has deeply shocked the entire state.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also expressed deep grief over this incident. He said in his official statement that this incident of stampede at Venkateshwara temple located in Kashibugga of Srikakulam district is extremely sad. The death of devotees is heartbreaking. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. Chief Minister Naidu has directed the officials to provide prompt and proper medical aid to all the injured. He has also asked the local administration and public representatives to monitor the relief and rescue operations.

On this accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the incident of stampede in Venkateswara Swamy temple located in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. He said on social media that he is extremely distressed by the incident of stampede in Venkateswara Swamy temple. My condolences are with the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray to God that the injured devotees get well soon. The Prime Minister also announced that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), while an assistance of Rs 50 thousand each will be provided to the injured.

Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over this tragic accident and said, I am deeply saddened by the death of the devotees who lost their lives in the stampede at Kasibugga Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. I express my condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray to God that the injured devotees get well soon.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has expressed deep grief over the incident of stampede that took place on the occasion of Ekadashi at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srikakulam district. He said that it is extremely sad that nine devotees lost their lives in the stampede caused by the huge crowd that had gathered to have the darshan of Lord Venkateswara. The death of a child in this has deeply shaken all of us. Pawan Kalyan said that the government will take all possible steps for the treatment of the injured so that they can get the best medical care and they get well soon. Expressing deep condolences to the families of the deceased, he said that the government will provide all kinds of assistance. The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the administrative officials to effectively control the crowd of devotees during religious occasions in all the temples of the state so that such incidents are not repeated.
