The sedan car sales report for December 2025 has arrived. In this, Maruti Dzire has once again secured the first position. A total of 31,985 units of the sedan segment were sold this month. This is 2.91% more than December 2024. However, there has been a decline of 8.72% in sales compared to November 2025. Maruti Dzire sold 19,072 units, which is much liked due to its starting price of ₹ 6.25 lakh and mileage of 33 km.
How were the overall sales of the sedan segment?
A total of 31,985 units of the sedan segment were sold in India in December 2025. This is 2.91% more than 31,081 units in December 2024. But, compared to November 2025, it saw a decline of 8.72%. This indicates reduced demand at the end of the year.
How was the performance of Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Aura?
Maruti Dzire remained the best selling car in the sedan segment even in December 2025. Its 19,072 units were sold. This is 15.08% more than the same month last year. However, its sales declined by 9.53% compared to November. The Dzire accounted for more than half of total sedan sales.
Hyundai Aura stood at second place, with 4,925 units sold. There was a good increase of 27.86% in its sales as compared to last year. But, its sales declined by 14.06% compared to November. Honda Amaze sales remained weak. Only 2,575 units were sold, which is 30.56% less than last year and 6.80% less than November.
What was the condition of mid-size and premium sedans?
In the mid-size sedan segment, some vehicles did well, while some lost sales. 2,378 units of Volkswagen Virtus were sold. Its sales increased by 5.36% from last year and by 6.88% from November. Honda City also made a comeback and sold 943 units. This is 20.43% more than last year and 55.87% more than November.
In contrast, Skoda Slavia sales declined to 711 units. There was a huge decline of 62.46% from last year and 36.52% from November. Hyundai Verna also sold only 406 units, which is 53.44% less than last year and 42.74% less than November.
775 units of Tata Tigor / Tigor EV were sold in the entry-level EV and premium segments. This is less than last year, but 58.81% more than November. The Toyota Camry performed well. Its 200 units were sold, which is 127.27% more than last year. Not a single unit of Skoda Octavia was sold in December.
What is the price and mileage of Dzire?
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is one of the most loved sedans in India. Its starting ex-showroom price is around ₹ 6.25 lakh to ₹ 6.26 lakh. The price of the top model goes up to ₹9.31 lakh. It is also quite strong in terms of mileage, in petrol variants it gives a mileage of 33 km/litre to 33.77 km/litre. It also has features like sunroof, 6 airbags and ADAS, making it a value for money car in its segment.
