A day before Anant Chaturdashi, the Mumbai Police received a bomb blast on the official WhatsApp number of the city’s traffic police, after which the entire city was declared a high alert.
Threat claim
The message said that 34 vehicles in different areas of Mumbai are standing full of “human bombs” and after the blasts, the whole city will be shaken. ” It mentioned an organization called “Lashkar-e-Jihadi” and claimed that 14 Pakistani terrorists had already entered the city. The threat also said that 400 kg RDX would be used in the attack, which “can lose one crore people.”
Police action
According to police sources, the threat is being taken seriously. Cyber cell and anti-terraler unit are investigating the message together and trying to find out its reality. Security has been increased in major areas of the city, religious processions and crowded places.
Senior officials said, “We are investigating the WhatsApp message and its truth is being confirmed. May the citizens maintain peace and immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity.”
This threat has come at a time when recently the Mumbai Police also received threats from many phone calls and emails, which has increased the concern about safety in the festive season.
