A minor fire broke out at Terminal 1 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Thursday, following which emergency teams immediately responded. According to the Mumbai Fire Department, Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), police and ward staff personnel were immediately deployed at the site of the fire. There is no news of anyone being injured in this incident.
According to the Mumbai Fire Department (MFB), the incident was reported at around 18:35 at a ground floor in 1B Circle, Santa Cruz East. The fire was declared Level-1 at 19:05. Fire officials said the fire was confined to the power plant located on the ground floor, affecting electrical equipment, wiring, cables, installations and panels at roof level. Emergency teams of fire department (MFB) along with police and BMC ward staff were immediately dispatched to the spot.
In a statement, an airport spokesperson said the fire was reported at around 18:10 and was caused by a short circuit. “Emergency response teams brought the fire under control within minutes. Airport operations remained unaffected,” the spokesperson said.
Officials confirmed that the situation was quickly brought under control, ensuring minimal disruption and normal operations at one of the busiest airports in the country.
