Bihar government has intensified work on an important scheme to strengthen the tourism sector of the state. New tourist centers will be developed in the area extending from Kaimur-Rohtas to Munger-Bhagalpur. To promote tourism in this entire region, a destination development plan for seven districts is being prepared, in which there will be special focus on eco-tourism.
Seven districts were identified
According to the Tourism Department, the seven districts which have been included in this scheme include Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Munger, Banka and Bhagalpur. Natural beauty, religious places, historical heritage and forest areas already exist in these districts, but now they will be developed in a planned manner.
Eco-tourism will become the mainstay
Under the new plan, tourism facilities will be developed while preserving forests, waterfalls, mountains, lakes and wildlife areas. The aim of the government is to create employment opportunities for the local people without harming the environment. Facilities like trekking paths, nature trails, view points and eco-friendly resorts will be developed.
New five-star hotels and tourism infrastructure
The Tourism Department has informed that there are plans to develop seven new five-star hotels in the state. Three of these hotels will be built in Patna. Apart from this, high-end hotels, home-stays and resorts will also be developed near Bodhgaya, Rajgir and other major tourist destinations. The government is also offering special incentive packages to attract private investors.
Religious and historical places will be developed
The historical sites associated with Sher Shah Suri, Rohtasgarh Fort, Kudra and Kaimur Hills are the major attractions in Kaimur and Rohtas region. Whereas in Munger and Bhagalpur region, there are places like Ganga Ghat, Vikramshila Mahavihar, Baba Ajgabinath Dham and Mandar Parvat, which will be connected with modern facilities.
Local people will benefit
This scheme will increase demand for hotels, guide services, transport, handicrafts and local products. This will provide direct employment and new income opportunities to the people living in villages and towns. The government believes that this project will help put Bihar in the league of major tourism states of the country.
Overall, this plan of tourism development from Kaimur to Bhagalpur can prove to give a new direction to Bihar’s economy, employment and identity of the state.
