Police have arrested five people, including four teachers of a private school in Kendrapara district, in connection with the alleged attack on a minor Class 7 student. The accused are associated with Oxford School located in Rajkanika block of the district. A peon of the school has also been detained in connection with this incident.
The police began investigation after the victim’s family lodged a complaint with the Child Welfare Committee and subsequent arrests were made. A case has been registered at Rajkanika police station under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO), 2012. Kendrapara district magistrate Raghuram R Iyer said the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has investigated the alleged attack on a minor student and the police have Some people have been arrested in the case.
He further said that the authorities are taking the matter seriously as the police investigation is ongoing. Speaking to ANI, Iyer said, “The CWC has investigated the matter. They have visited the spot, talked to the family and the police have arrested some people, and the police investigation has started.” The complaint was received, after which an investigation team was immediately formed.
“We received a complaint regarding an allegation of assault on a student in a private school on the 18th,” Patra told ANI. “An investigation team was immediately formed and we visited the school along with the parents. A report has been submitted, based on which further investigation will be conducted,” Patra told ANI.
