He said, “Modi is worried about your expenses, your savings are worried. Many festivals are coming in the coming days. This time our government has given a huge gift to the poor and middle class before Diwali and Chhath. The first day of Navratri, GST will be reduced drastically in the country from 22 September.”

The Prime Minister said, “GST has been severely reduced on most of the things required in your daily life. My mothers and sisters, I want to tell you especially that the cost of the kitchen is going to be very low due to decrease in GST. From toothpaste, soap and shampoo to ghee and food items will become cheaper.”
Modi said that GST cuts will make stationery, clothes and shoes cheap during festivals. He said that the government that “cares about the poor” always works for their welfare. The GST structure is mainly being simplified in two slabs – 5% and 18% – while the slab of 40% for luxury and harmful items. The purpose of these reforms is to increase strength, promote consumption and speed up economic development.
Prime Minister Modi was in Bihar, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects costing about Rs 36,000 crore in the election district Purnia.
