Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the countrymen on Dhanteras on Saturday.
This festival marks the beginning of Diwali celebrations.
Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Many happy Dhanteras wishes to all my family members of the country. On this auspicious occasion, I wish everyone happiness, good fortune and health. May Lord Dhanvantari bless everyone with his full blessings.
Dhanvantari Trayodashi is commonly known as Dhanteras. It is considered the beginning of the festival of Diwali and is celebrated on the 13th lunar day of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) of the Ashwin month of the Hindu calendar.
Dhanteras is considered the most auspicious day in the Hindu calendar for purchasing items ranging from precious metals like gold and silver to utensils.
