Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Manipur on Saturday. This is his first visit to Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with several people displaced due to ethnic violence at Peace Ground in Chudachandpur, Manipur.
Officials said that Modi heard the concerns of the families of the internal displaced persons (IDPs) and assured them of help from the Center to restore peace and general situation in the state.
After the foundation stone and inauguration of several development projects worth more than Rs 9,000 crore in Aizawl, Mizoram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Churachandpur, one of the most affected areas of violence in the afternoon, was welcomed here. He then interacted with a group of people affected by violence.

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of several development projects worth more than Rs 7,300 crore in Churachandpur. These projects in Manipur urban roads over Rs 3,600 crore, drainage and asset management improvement project; 5 national highway projects worth more than Rs 2,500 crore; Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project, hostels for working women at 9 places and other projects are included.
