“Rajasthan illegal religious conversion prohibition bill, 2025” was passed after discussion in the House on Tuesday during the monsoon session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
Rajasthan Minister Jogaram Patel said that the anti -conversion law passed by the Legislative Assembly has strict provisions including punishment for life imprisonment and it was approved despite opposition from the opposition. Talking to ANI, Patel said, “There were some people in the Congress Legislature Party who did not want the bill to be discussed.
The minister emphasized that the new law provides for severe punishment for forcibly or deception. Patel further said, “This law has strict provisions of punishment from 7 years to life imprisonment. This law has been made after studying other such laws in the country.”
Rajasthan minister Avinash Gehlot accused the Congress of boycotting the discussion on the anti -conversion law due to the politics of appeasement. This was said after the bill was passed amid opposition from the opposition.
Speaking to ANI, Gehlot said, “The Congress did not participate in the discussion on the bill as his four MLAs are from the minority community. The Congress is in this situation today due to this appeasement politics.”
Rajasthan Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said that the state assembly has taken a historic step by passing a strict law to curb the incidents of forced conversion.
Talking to ANI, Bedham said, “The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has entered into a strict law to prevent the incidents of conversion in the state today.” Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, Tika Ram Julie criticized the state government for passing the anti -conversion law and argued that the law lacks statistical justification and it is part of the political agenda of the BJP.
Talking to ANI, Julie said, “First of all you will have to present the figures. The questions that these people have raised, not a single case of bloodshed has come up in the last five years. Only 13 cases have come up in the last five years. These people are telling us themselves. If such a big religion is happening on such a large scale, then why have they closed their eyes?”
He demanded a proper inquiry before enacting any such law. He added, “The investigation will be done.” The Congress leader also accused the BJP of furthering his political agenda by enacting the same laws in various states. “This is an agenda that he has spread. They are bringing Haryana, bringing Madhya Pradesh, bringing Uttarakhand, bringing Uttarakhand, bringing Uttar Pradesh. If this is the case, then the Government of India has made such a strict law.”
