Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Friday that tariffs on India have been imposed for fear of its growth, stressing that global powers are worried about India’s growing strength.
The RSS chief said this at a program organized on the 7th Foundation Day of Brahmakumari’s World Peace Sarovar in Nagpur, where he spoke on the role of India’s role and collective thinking in the world. Bhagwat said without naming a country, “People are afraid of what would happen if someone grew up. If India grows up, he will be targeted?
He clarified that it was not the fault of India to impose tariffs, but was done due to fear about his growing position on the global stage. Bhagwat said, “We did nothing; they are happy to those who did all this, because if this screenshot was saved, it could put some pressure on India.” The RSS chief said that such steps are the result of autism.
Bhagwat said, “All this happens in the game of ‘I and Mera’. When they understand that ‘I and my’ are ‘we and our’, all issues are over. Today the world needs a solution.” This comment has come amidst 25 percent tariffs on Indian imports by America, including 25 percent additional tariffs due to India’s purchase of Russian crude oil.
Describing the United States move to impose additional duty on India on oil imports from Russia, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that New Delhi “will take all necessary action to protect its national interests.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the United States President Donald Trump (local US time) said that the US and India would resume negotiations to remove “trade barriers” between the two countries.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social Social, Trump wrote, “I am happy to declare that India and the United States are continuing talks to remove trade obstacles between the two countries. I am keen to talk to my very good friends, Prime Minister Modi in the coming weeks. I am confident that I am confident that I will not have any difficulty in reaching a successful conclusion for both our great countries.
