Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has received a call from his Iranian counterpart Syed Abbas Araghchi. In this important conversation, there was a long discussion about the increasing tension in West Asia and the bilateral relations between the two countries. Amidst the ongoing tussle between America and Iran, India is keeping an eye on this entire matter. Jaishankar also spoke to top leaders of Qatar and UAE on the same day to get updates on the security and stability of the region.
What are the main points and current status of this conversation?
In this discussion between Iran and India, regional and international developments were discussed. According to the Iranian Embassy, Araghchi has presented Iran’s side on the current situation. This tension is directly impacting the sea routes, on which many important things have come to light for India:
India’s LPG tanker ‘Green Sanvi’ has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz on 4 April 2026. So far, 9 Indian tankers have been rescued safely, but 18 ships are still reported to be stranded there. Iran has made it clear that the route of Hormuz is open for its friends but will remain closed for its enemies. It is a matter of relief that no untoward incident has happened to any Indian ship in the last 72 hours and all the sailors are safe.
America’s warning and military movement in the region
The situation between America and Iran remains quite delicate. US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning that if Iran does not lift its siege, major action can be taken on Tuesday, April 7. Along with this, several military incidents have also taken place in the last 48 hours:
Date Event 4 April 2026 News of attack on Iran’s petrochemical hub, in which five people died. 5 April 2026 America conducted a rescue operation to rescue two of its personnel trapped inside Iran. April 6, 2026 Trump said that Iran has time till Monday otherwise there will be serious consequences on Tuesday.
India is continuously advocating for reducing tension through dialogue and diplomacy. This area is very important for India in view of the Indians living in Gulf countries and the oil-gas trade from there. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has also discussed with the leaders of Qatar and UAE so that there is no harm to the security and business interests of Indians.
