New Delhi. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has accused senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, who was the Finance and Home Minister in the UPA government, of lying. On this, SGPC General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal has said that Operation Blue Star was the only decision taken by Indira Gandhi as part of her agenda. SGPC said that Chidambaram is better late than never, but is still telling a lie. SGPC said that Operation Blue Star was not a joint decision of the army, police and intelligence department.

SGPC General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal has also raised questions on the dual policy of Congress in the matter of anti-Sikh riots. SGPC has raised the question that if Congress really accepts its mistake, then why does Rahul Gandhi not say anything about Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar? SGPC has said that why does Rahul Gandhi sit with these people instead? Let us tell you that Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar have been counted among the big leaders of Congress. Tytler and Sajjan Kumar are accused of being involved in the anti-Sikh riots following the assassination of Indira Gandhi in 1984. Sajjan Kumar has also been convicted in the anti-Sikh riots case. The Congress high command or other leaders never talk about these two leaders. Apart from SGPC, BJP spokesperson RP Singh also cornered Congress on Chidambaram’s statement.

Before this statement of SGPC, Congress leader P. Chidambaram had said in a discussion on journalist Harinder Baweja’s book ‘They Will Shoot You Madam’ that he does not insult any army officer, but the way Operation Blue Star was conducted was very wrong. Chidambaram said that the Golden Temple of Amritsar could have been freed from Khalistanis even by keeping the army out. Chidambaram said in the program that he agreed that former PM Indira Gandhi paid the price of Operation Blue Star with her life. The senior Congress leader said that Operation Blue Star was more a decision of the army, police, intelligence and bureaucracy than the government. P. Chidambaram, who was a minister in the UPA government, said that only Indira Gandhi cannot be blamed for this.
