Congress should set an example by leaving power in Telangana and Karnataka: Sanjay Kumar

Launching a scathing attack on the allegations of ‘vote theft’ being made by the Congress, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday said that if the Congress really believes in these allegations, then it should set an example by leaving its governments in Telangana and Karnataka, as the governments in these two states are formed under the same Election Commission, the same voter list and the same Constitution.

In a post on social media platform

He said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat had explained ‘Shakti’ as energy in a civilizational context, but Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tried to present it as political power. Sanjay Kumar said, “Turning a civilizational context into a political outrage shows a poor understanding of India’s cultural language and even basic science.”

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s earlier statements, he said that those who try to attack ‘power’ ultimately harm themselves. Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, the Union Minister said that Hinduism cannot be learned through ‘immediate briefing’ and ‘Shakti’ means something different from ‘throne’ or power.

He reiterated, “If the Congress really feels that the elections have been stolen, then it should set an example by leaving power in Telangana and Karnataka. Celebrating victory by accepting governments formed under the same Election Commission, same voter list and the same Constitution and crying ‘vote theft’ when they lose is an insult to democracy.

Sanjay Kumar alleged that first the Congress spread the lie that reservation would be abolished and now it is spreading the fear that people will be deprived of their Aadhaar, ration card, land or property due to voter verification. He called it ‘deliberate politics of fear’.

He said that Congress has made ‘untruth’ its political weapon and its campaign is not a fight for truth but an excuse to hide its defeat. Calling the election defeat ‘vote theft’ is an insult to crores of voters who have taken a free and conscious decision.

Alleging misuse of institutions since the Emergency and for decades, Sanjay Kumar said that Congress has used democracy as its personal property. He said that threatening action against election commissioners is not democratic courage but politics of intimidation. He alleged that independent institutions are acceptable to Congress only when they take decisions in the interest of a family.

It is noteworthy that on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi had alleged that ‘vote theft’ is in the DNA of BJP and Congress stands with ‘truth’. Citing the recent statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, he had said that the world looks more at power than truth.
