Stampede in Karur, Tamil Nadu: Number of people who lost their lives in accident is 41

The death toll in the stampede at the election rally in Karur Ki Karur, Tamil Nadu Votari, increased. After the death of a woman undergoing treatment in the hospital, the figure of the dead has now reached 41.

Please tell that 65 -year -old Suguna, a resident of Karur district, who was on ventilator support in the intensive medical unit, died due to no benefit despite treatment.

The dead include 18 women, 13 men, five women and five youths, causing the total number of the dead to 41. So far, 34 victims are from Karur district, two each from Erode, Tiruppur and Dindigul districts and one from Salem district.

In Vijay’s rally on Saturday evening, a large crowd allegedly became chaotic, causing panic. Many people fainted and were taken to nearby hospitals. Sources said that the accident occurred due to excessive congestion at the venue.

A day earlier, the Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay announced that he would provide financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh to the bereaved families and Rs 2 lakh to the injured in the unfortunate stampede during his rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

In a passionate post on X, TVK chief said that he has “no words to express his heart’s pain,” he further said that the faces of the dead are roaming in his mind.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced that the families of 39 people killed in the Karur stampede will be given two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Prime Minister Modi also announced a assistance of Rs 50,000 thousand for those injured in this tragic incident.

Sharing a post, the PMO said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to the families of each deceased in an unfortunate incident at a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.”

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of each deceased and Rs 1 lakh to each person undergoing treatment.
