New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had recently cornered the Election Commission alleging vote theft. Rahul Gandhi claimed to have many evidences in support of his allegations. After alleging vote theft on behalf of Rahul Gandhi, lawyer Rohit Pandey had filed a PIL in the Supreme Court to investigate it. This petition was rejected by the Supreme Court on Monday. The Supreme Court, after hearing the arguments of the petitioner, refused to accept it as being in public interest.

In the Supreme Court, the bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi said that in this matter the petitioner should give his representation to the Election Commission. The court said that only the Election Commission has the authority to investigate such allegations. Rohit Pandey, who filed the petition, can file a complaint there. The lawyer who filed the petition had appealed that the Supreme Court should order the formation of a SIT to investigate the allegations of vote theft made by Rahul Gandhi. The Supreme Court, after hearing the petition, has made it clear that it cannot directly intervene in such a matter.

Earlier, a press conference had been held by the Election Commission on the allegations of vote theft by Rahul Gandhi. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had told the media that Rahul Gandhi should complain to the Election Commission along with an affidavit. The Chief Election Commissioner had also said that if Rahul Gandhi does not do this, it will be considered that his allegations are false. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had objected that Rahul Gandhi had also cast doubt on the voters. Rahul Gandhi had also taken the names of many voters in front of the media as evidence regarding his allegations. Many of these voters told the media that Rahul Gandhi’s allegation is wrong and they are not voter ID card holders from more than one place. Rahul Gandhi had also claimed that soon he was going to detonate a nuclear bomb related to vote theft, but at present the Congress MP has maintained silence.
