Swami Chaitanyand Saraswati, the head of Sri Shree Shringeri Math, a major ashram in the posh Vasant Kunj area of South Delhi, has been accused of sexual abuse along with more than 15 women. Since then, Swami Chaitanyand is absconding from Saraswati Ashram, the police is looking for him. The Sri Shringeri Math Administration has removed Swami Chaitanyand Saraswati from the post of director and the police have issued a look-out notice to prevent him from leaving the country.

Who is Chaitanyand Saraswati

The old name of Chaitanyanand Saraswati was Swami Parthasarathi. For the first time there is no allegations on it. Earlier in 2009, a case of fraud and molestation was registered in the Defense Colony and in 2016, a woman in Vasant Kunj also complained against her. According to the police, Chaitananand Saraswati, a resident of Odisha, was living in the ashram for the last 12 years and was playing the role of the operator and the supervision.

The ashram administration said in a statement, “Swami Chaitanyand Saraswati, who was previously known as Swami Parthasarathi. The man has indulged in illegal and inappropriate activities and violated the dignity of the monastery. As a result, the bench has broken all relations with them and lodged a complaint with the concerned officials.”

32 women students recorded statements

Those who complained against Chaitanyand Saraswati include women who were doing PGDM courses on the scholarship of the economically weaker section (EWS) at the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management, where the accused was employed as the director. During the investigation, statements of 32 women students were recorded, out of which 17 alleged that Swamy abused, sent pornographic WhatsApp and text messages and made unwanted physical contacts. Many women also alleged that Swamy blackened them and threatened them and three women faculty and administrators pressured them to accept the demands of the owner.

The police have questioned these three women but their entire role will be clear only after the owner is caught. Forensic investigation of the complainants’ phone has been conducted as the accused forced them to delete the message.

Raids on accused’s locations

Meanwhile, CCTV footage was investigated and several raids were conducted on the scene of the incident and the accused. The police seized the hard disk and video recorders and sent it for forensic investigation. During the investigation, a Volvo car was found in the basement of Sri Sharda Institute, which had a fake UN number plate. Investigation revealed that the car was being used by Swami Chaitananand Saraswati. The police have also recovered other fake diplomatic number plates and are being investigated how the accused acquired them.

Police said that the final location of the accused was tracked in Agra, but he is constantly changing its location and using mobile phones very rarely. Delhi Police teams are conducting raids in Bihar, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand to catch him.
