Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the knowledge of Lord Buddha and the path shown by him is for the entire humanity and the holy relics of Buddha are not mere relics, but an inseparable part of India’s venerable heritage.
Inaugurating the grand international exhibition of the sacred Piprahwa relics found in 1898, Modi said that Lord Buddha belongs to everyone and unites all people.
“For India, the sacred relics of Buddha are not mere relics, but an inseparable part of our venerable heritage and civilization,” he said in the presence of Buddhist scholars, diplomats and other guests.
Modi said that after waiting for 125 years, India’s heritage has returned. He said that the knowledge of Lord Buddha and the path shown by him is for the entire humanity.
Modi expressed gratitude to the Godrej Group for ensuring the return of Buddha’s relics to their homeland. Piprahwa remains have a special place in the early archaeological study of Buddhism.
