Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said during one of his addresses on Dussehra that the organized, strong and virtuous form of Hindu society is the final guarantee of India’s unity, integrity, development and security.

He was addressing the Vijayadashami festival at the Reshambagh Maidan in Nagpur. He emphasized that Hindu society is inclusive, is free from separatist tendencies and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, ie, is the patron of philosophy of considering the world as a family.

Dr. Bhagwat said, “An organized society performs its duties on its own strength. Therefore the Sangh is working to organize the entire Hindu society.”

The event was a symbol of a historical stop of the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. On this occasion, Dr. Bhagwat and former President of India Ramnath Kovind were accompanied by Vidarbha Province Union Director Deepak Tashttiwar, Vidarbha Province cum Union Director Sridhar Gaj and Nagpur Metropolitan Union Association Rajesh Loya.

Dr. Bhagwat insisted that there is no alternative to indigenous and self -sufficiency. He said that global interaction is a reality, but India will have to ensure that it does not become weak.

Referring to the recent American trade policies, he said that India should reconsider its approach and strengthen its self -sufficiency.

He also warned of ecological imbalances caused by materialistic policies around the world, and referred to incidence of irregular rainfall, floods and landslides in India in recent years.

He said that the Himalayas are water sources for the whole of South Asia, and the growing natural disasters there are danger bells for the entire region.

Dr. Bhagwat expressed concern over the unrest prevailing in neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal and warned that disruptive forces in India and abroad want to spread a similar disturbance here. He urged the rule based on strong administration and democratic processes, not on violence to ensure stability.

He said, “Neighboring countries are like our family. Their peace, stability and progress is also necessary for India.”

The RSS chief considered both achievements and challenges. He cited the global record of the management and unity of Prayagraj Kumbh, as well as recalled the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, killing 26 innocent citizens. He said that India’s strong military and social response reflects the flexibility of the country.

He also stressed the need to be vigilant towards national security while maintaining friendship with other countries. He appreciated strict action against the Naxalite rebels, but reminded that their roots are in the absence of exploitation and development. He called for a holistic governance system to restore justice and harmony in the affected areas.

Highlighting the diversity of India’s languages, beliefs and traditions, Dr. Bhagwat said: “Our differences are our strengths, not the cause of division. Despite our different identities, we are a society, a nation, a culture.”

He urged the citizens to maintain harmony and mutual respect by mind, speech and deeds and ensured that the faith or customs of any community were disrespectful.

He warned of “grammar of chaos”, where people resort to violence on minor disputes or doubts. He called for legitimate behavior, discipline and social vigilance to prevent disintegrating forces from taking advantage of division.

To commemorate the centenary of the RSS, Dr. Bhagwat underlined the Panch Parivartan Mission of the Union: social harmony, family enlightenment, environmental protection, self-awareness and indigenous and indigenous and civil discipline and constitutional commitment.

He said that these values embedded in the conduct of RSS volunteers would be inspiring for widespread social changes.

Presiding over the ceremony, former President Ram Nath Kovind described this day as historic: ‘This is the centenary year of Vijayadashami RSS, which is the largest voluntary organization in the world inherent in the ancient cultural heritage of India.’

Dr. K.B. Hedgewar and Dr. B.R. Paying tribute to Ambedkar, Kovind credited Ambedkar’s attitude of social justice, due to which a person like him reached the highest constitutional post of the country, while Hedgewar’s ideas deepened his understanding of society and nation. He said that the ideals of the union of nation building, discipline and service are exemplary for all.

A message from Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama was read during the program. He appreciated the centuries -old journey of the RSS of service, sacrifice and nation building and highlighted its role in assisting communities even in remote and disorganized areas to unite people, to strengthen India, and also in remote and disaster.

The centenary celebrations were attended by prestigious dignitaries from India and abroad, including Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita (retired), Managing Director of Deccan Industries, Coimbatore, KV. Karthik, Bajaj Finserv Chairman and Managing Director Sanjeev Bajaj, and Ghana, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Britain and America were included.
