In Kerala, 8 patients have died in the last 15 days due to brain eating amoeba. Brain eating amoeba thrives in fresh contaminated water. When people go to bathe or swim in this water, brain eating amoeba enters the body through the nose. After entering the body, brain eating amoeba i.e. Negarria Faller directly reaches the mind and destroys it slowly. Due to this amoeba, the tissue of the brain is destroyed. As a result, the patient starts getting shocks. The patient gets paralysis and if he does not get treatment on time, his life is also lost. During the rainy season, the possibility of brain eating amoeba in the water of ponds, pokhar vagaira increases.

The way to avoid brain eating amoeba is that during the rainy season, do not be bathed in a pond or puddle. Apart from this, if someone has fever after bathing in a pond or puddle, then immediately be conscious and a doctor should be seen. If the patient is getting shocks, he needs to be taken to the hospital immediately. If the brain eating amoeba victim is treated on time, then there is scope to survive.
