Guwahati. Nupur Bora of Assam is being discussed a lot. Nupur Bora is an officer of Assam Civil Service i.e. ACS. Nupur Bora was arrested on Monday for possessing disproportionate assets. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has said without naming Nupur Bora that he was being monitored for the last six months after a complaint of alleged involvement in controversial land matters. The CM of Assam said that when she was posted in Barpeta Revenue Circle, this officer took money and transferred the land of Hindus to suspects. Strict action has now been taken against him.

Along with Nupur, the Special Vigilance Cell of Assam CM also raided the house of Surjit Deka, who was called his associate. Surjeet Deka works in the Revenue Board office of Barpeta. Surjeet Deka is accused of acquiring several lands in collusion with Nupur Bora. The officials of the Special Vigilance Cell had said that 90 lakh cash and gold jewelery worth more than 1 crore were found from Nupur Bora’s residence in Guwahati. At the same time, another team of the cell also raided the rented house of Nupur Bora in Barpeta.
Everyone is surprised by the number of cash and gold jewelery from Nupur Bora. The reason for this is his tenure. Nupur Bora was elected to the Assam Civil Service in 2019 five years ago. At present, Nupur Bora was posted in Goroisari in Kamrup district of Assam. Nupur Bora was posted as Circle Officer in Gorori. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma himself has admitted that corruption is taking place in the revenue offices of minority dominated areas of the state. In such a situation, after the action on Nupur Bora and Surjeet Deka, now more revenue officers of Assam are also likely to fall. Recently, the Assam government had decided that before purchasing the land of Hindus, minorities would have to get approval from the administration.
