Bhilai. Within two days, the administration has woken up after a total of eight people died in road accidents at four places. Three out of four are like this. Where there is a constant threat of serious accidents.
Including Dhamdha Naka Overbridge, Thagdabandh Overbridge and Dabrapara to Hathkhoj Tiraha. The police had also written to the PWD and the corporation administration to take measures to prevent accidents at these places. But, the administration did not pay attention to it. After these accidents, the administration has decided to take measures to prevent the accident at the earliest.
On Friday, officials of the Traffic Police, Transport Department, Bridge Department, PWD and Corporation inspected the accident sites. The team of officers first reached Dhamdha Naka overbridge. Here, Bridge Department SDO RP Saraf told that it has been 40 years since the construction of Dhamdha Naka Bridge. The width of this bridge was sufficient according to the situation 40 years ago.
But, that’s not enough yet. Hence there is a need for another bridge in parallel with this bridge. Also, the movement of heavy vehicles should be restricted during the day.
After this, the officials reached the inspection of the Thugda dam overbridge. There SDO RP Saraf of Setu Division told that two turns have been given above the bridge. At these turns, the vehicles get out of control and go on the right side. Therefore, a divider will be constructed over the bridge and this work will be completed within 15 days.
Finally, the officials who reached the road leading to Hathkhoj from Dabrapara took stock of the cause of the accident. Here, Bhilai Mayor Neeraj Pal while directing the officers of the corporation said that construction of dividers and lighting works should be done on this road. Traffic DSP Gurjit Singh, Transport Inspector Vikas Sharma, Vishnu Thakur and other officers were present during the inspection.
