Mumbai. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is desperate to prove that it is not ‘Team B’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party. That is why the party is ready to cooperate with the alliance to keep BJP out of power in Maharashtra. State AIMIM president and Aurangabad MP Syed Imtiaz Jaleel said he had made the offer to Nationalist Congress Party health minister Rajesh Tope, who met him yesterday.
Jaleel told media persons late last night, “It has always been alleged that AIMIM helps BJP win elections by dividing Muslim votes. To refute these allegations, I have made an offer to Tope that we should join the NCP.” And are ready to forge an alliance with the Congress. They have not commented on our offer.”
Jaleel reiterated that the BJP has caused the most damage to the country and the AIMIM is ready to forge an alliance with any party and do everything possible to keep the saffron party out of power.
Though he refrained from commenting on Shiv Sena, the Shiv Sena later vehemently rejected the offer of AIMIM, while Congress and NCP remained silent on it.
The AIMIM MP said: “All these parties are eager to garner Muslim votes, though they claim to be ‘secular’, but always blame us when we lose.”
