New Delhi. Today is an important day for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal’s application is being heard in the Supreme Court today. Arvind Kejriwal had earlier filed an application in the Delhi High Court against his arrest and remand. Delhi High Court had rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s application. Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Supreme Court against the decision of Delhi High Court.
Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of Delhi High Court had given all the reasons for rejecting Arvind Kejriwal’s application. In the judgment running into several hundred pages, Justice Sharma clearly said that the evidence the ED is showing against Arvind Kejriwal has substance. Besides, Delhi High Court had also said that Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested under the law. Delhi High Court had also refused to give special concession to Arvind Kejriwal being the CM of Delhi. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma had also said that the court has nothing to do with politics. Justice Sharma had written this in his decision because Arvind Kejriwal had said in his application that his arrest before the Lok Sabha elections was a conspiracy to stop him from campaigning.
Apart from Delhi High Court, Rouse Avenue Court also gave a shock to Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal had applied in the Rouse Avenue Court that instead of 2 days a week, he should be allowed to meet his lawyers for 5 days. ED had said in the court that Arvind Kejriwal does not want to meet lawyers in connection with his cases. Kejriwal meets lawyers with ulterior motives. On this, Rouse Avenue Court had rejected Kejriwal’s application. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21 in the liquor scam case. The court had sent Arvind Kejriwal on ED remand twice. After which he was sent to Tihar Jail in judicial custody till 15 April.
