New Delhi. In Delhi’s liquor policy scam, the central investigating agency CBI told the court that some more high-profile people can be arrested in this case. Opposing the bail plea of AAP leader Manish Sisodia, CBI argued that the investigation is still going on and Sisodia can obstruct it. Let us tell you that CBI is investigating the liquor scam of Delhi, while ED is investigating the money laundering case related to this matter. ED recently arrested former Telangana CM KCR’s daughter K. Kavita has been arrested. Earlier, former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and AAP MP Sanjay Singh were arrested by CBI in this case. AAP leader Satyendra Jain was also arrested by ED in the same case.
During the hearing today on the petition of AAP leader Manish Sisodia, CBI opposed his bail plea. On the other hand, the lawyer appearing on behalf of Sisodia claimed that the court proceedings are getting delayed, on which the Supreme Court said that if the court proceedings proceed slowly then the accused can apply for bail in three months. Earlier on March 14, the Supreme Court had rejected the curative petition of Sisodia. The AAP leader had filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court after his bail plea was rejected. This was rejected by the bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. Let us tell you that Curative Petition is a petition which requests the court to review its decision even after the review petition is rejected. Actually, the Arvind Kejriwal government had implemented the new liquor policy in Delhi on 17 November 2021. The government had argued that this policy would increase revenue and also curb black marketing. Not only this, the government also argued that this policy will also be beneficial for the customers. However, this policy soon ran into controversy and layers of scams began to emerge. After this the Kejriwal government withdrew it.
