Oats Side Effects: People who work in offices sitting for hours often complain of weight gain. Whenever it comes to weight loss or controlling weight, people turn to healthy diet. After Corona, the trend of healthy diet and organic food has increased a lot among the people. In the name of healthy diet, people often include oats in their diet. Eating oats for breakfast every day is considered a good habit. It is considered good to add oats to your diet. But is this really a good habit? Is eating oats every morning giving you health benefits? let’s understand it From Mumbai’s famous nutritionist Dr. Mehar Panjwani.
1. Oats are only carbohydrates
There is a saying in Oats culture, ‘Ati Sarvatra Varjate’ which means anything in excess causes harm. The same thing applies with oats also. Nutritionist Dr. Mehar Panjwani tells that our body gets many types of nutrients by eating different foods. This is the reason why you get to see so much variety in our Indian plate. We also change our food according to the season. In such a situation, if you always have one type of breakfast, or are taking one type of carb every day, then this practice is wrong. Secondly, if we talk about oats, it is only carbohydrate, so we cannot depend on just one thing for the most important meal of our day.
2. Increase in Glycemic Index: Oats contain glucose and carbohydrates, due to which it can increase your blood glucose. This is a complex carb, so if you are diabetic, it may cause a spike in your blood sugar level.
Eating too much oats can cause digestive problems like gas and stomach pain etc. (Canva)
3. Too many calories: If you are in the process of weight loss, then understand that oats contain a lot of calories. So it is clear that this is not a very good friend of yours in your weight loss journey.
4. Excess of fiber spoils digestion: Dr. Mehar Panjwani tells that If you are eating oats directly and not combining it with anything else, then due to the presence of too much fiber in it, it causes digestion problems because the body is not able to digest other nutrients. This can cause digestive problems such as gas and stomach pain etc.
5. Your oats can be a processed food: There are many such oats, masala oats etc. available in the market which are completely processed and contain high amount of sugar. In such a situation, if you are eating these oats, then instead of healthy food, you are putting processed food in your body, then it is very harmful.
Understand it in simple language that when you eat the same type of food, your body becomes addicted to it and is unable to digest other things. But our body needs different types of nutrients to grow.
