The government is working on a new policy regarding drones used in industrial and civil use. Civil Aviation Secretary Wumlunmang Wualnam said on Tuesday the government would consider creating a separate regulatory framework for drones used for civil and industrial purposes.
Emphasis will be on drones
Along with bringing the new policy, he advocated indigenous development of drone ecosystem and also emphasized that the government will make efforts to promote drones as well as advance advanced air transportation. Addressing a national conference on drones in the national capital, he said “a lot has been done and a lot more will be done” in terms of drone regulations. Government encouraging Indian manufacturers
An incentive of Rs 120 crore is being provided to Indian manufacturers of drones and drone components on the basis of value addition and certain other conditions. Speaking at a conference organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Wumlunmang Wualnam said the plan has been a success. He stressed the need for indigenous development of drone environment system.
Namo Drone Didi Scheme will come soon
He also clarified that there should be no dependence on incentives and the drone industry should survive on its own. Regarding the ‘NaMo Drone Didi’ scheme, he said that the specifications for the drone will be released soon. The objective of this scheme is to provide agricultural drones to rural women. Under this, 15,000 drones will be given to women-led self-help groups.
