Orange alert for Gujarat, boys drown in Mumbai
Due to Cyclone Biperjoy, the sea is rough and high waves are rising. Four minor boys drowned in the Arabian Sea about 500 meters off the Juhu-Koliwada beach in Santacruz, Mumbai. Two have been found, the search is on for the remaining two. The BMC has sought the help of divers from the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard as high waves are hampering the search operation.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts of Gujarat. The cyclone is likely to cross Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts by June 15 as a very severe cyclonic storm. It will pass through the coasts between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi in Pakistan. During this, winds will blow at a speed of 125-135 kmph continuously, whose speed can reach up to 150 kmph in between.
Squally wind speed reaching 125-135 kmph gusting to 145 kmph is very likely over Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh and Morbi from Thursday till evening.
