On Saturday evening, the central government gave a big relief to the general public from inflation. The central government reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 and Rs 6 respectively, which reduced the prices of petrol and diesel. Due to this move of the government, petrol was reduced by Rs 9 50 paise while diesel by Rs 7 by 50 paise. Petrol and diesel prices were increasing continuously since the assembly elections of five states, which spoiled the budget of the common man. The government has now given great relief to the people.
At the same time, immediately after the decision of the Central Government, Kerala and Petrol-Diesel by Rajasthan Government VAT was removed from the tax, due to which the price of petrol in Rajasthan and Kerala became even lower as compared to other states. The Kerala government has cut VAT by Rs 2 41 paise per liter on petrol and Rs 1 36 paise per liter on diesel. With this move of the Kerala government, the price of petrol in Kerala will be reduced by 11 rupees 91 paise.
Rajasthan government reduced VAT: In addition to the central government, the Rajasthan government reduced VAT on petrol by Rs 2, 48 paise and on diesel by Re 1 16 paise per liter. With this move of the state government, petrol in Rajasthan will become cheaper by Rs 10 48 paise, while diesel by Rs 7 16 paise per liter. This step of the state government will not only benefit the general public, but the state will suffer a loss of Rs 1200 crore.
After this decision of Rajasthan and Kerala government, now there is pressure on BJP ruled state to reduce VAT. Recently, during a meeting with Chief Ministers, Prime Minister Modi had said that in Diwali last year, when the central government reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel, then BJP ruled states had reduced VAT, but non BJP ruled states. Relief was not given to the general public.
Let us inform that apart from petrol and diesel, the central government has also cut the prices of gas cylinders by Rs 200. However, the benefit of this deduction will be available only to those who get the subsidy. The government has decided that those who have got cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme, they will be given a subsidy of Rs 200 for filling the cylinders. About 9 crore families will benefit from this.
