Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Center of Guwahati has issued an alert of heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya for the next 24 hours (May 21, 2022). The Meteorological Department has said that due to south-westerly winds, there will be pressure from the Bay of Bengal, so there is a possibility of heavy rain in the north-eastern region. On the other hand, in North India, the heat has made the condition of the people miserable.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on May 20, there will be an outbreak of severe heat wave and heat in different parts of Rajasthan. At the same time, on 20-21 May 2022, the weather will be hot due to heat wave in different areas of South UP, South Punjab, South Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. According to IMD, from May 21, 2022, there is a possibility of some relief from the heat in the country.

Heat wave unlikely to get rid of heat: Due to scorching heat, the temperature reached 45 degree Celsius in some parts of Haryana and Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (May 19). Whereas, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh recorded a maximum temperature of 46 degree Celsius on May 19. According to the Meteorological Department, on May 20-21 in the states of North West and Central India, the weather pattern will remain hot and there is no possibility of getting rid of the heat due to heat wave at many places. However, there is a possibility of rain with strong wind at many places between 22 and 24 May.
School closed due to rain in Dharwad: According to IMD, coastal and south Karnataka received heavy rains on Friday. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in different parts of Kerala during May 20-22. There is a possibility of rain and thundershower activities over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next 5 days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in North-West and East India during May 20 to 24, 2022. Holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in Dharwad district of Karnataka. All schools and colleges in the district will remain closed for a day due to heavy rains.
The India Meteorological Department on Friday issued a “yellow alert” for nine districts of Kerala, according to which there is a possibility of heavy rains in the state. A ‘yellow alert’ was issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. ‘Yellow Alert’ means heavy rain between 6 to 11 cms.
At the same time, the death toll due to landslides in Arunachal Pradesh has risen to 8. Officials said that most parts of the state have been receiving heavy rains for the past few days and reports of landslides are coming from several districts.
