Even after the crushing defeat in the Punjab Assembly elections, the ruckus in the state leadership of the Congress continues. On Monday, Navjot Singh Sidhu had staged a sit-in in Rajpura over many issues including power cut, but he was seen falling alone. Most of the party people did not reach this dharna of Congress leaders. No leader of the team of sitting MLA and newly appointed state president Amarinder Raja Waring reached. These leaders said that the dharna organized by Navjot Singh Sidhu was not on the orders of the party. In such a situation, he did not think it right to go there. In this way the Congress is divided even after coming into the opposition.
The dharna was organized by former Rajpura MLA Hardayal Kamboj, close to Navjot Singh Sidhu. Navjot Singh Sidhu addressed this dharna and he sat for a long time. Apart from him, only a few Congressmen appeared in this dharna. Senior leaders, in particular, kept their distance so that they could not be accused of breaking away from the party line. Even the leaders of the Patiala where Rajpura comes, made a distance from it. The leaders said that it was not organized by the party. On Sunday, State Congress Committee chief Amarinder Raja Waring had already indicated to distance himself from the dharna.
Party leader said – we were not even called
When asked about organizing the dharna on behalf of Navjot Singh Sidhu, Amarinder Raja Waring said that he has no information about it. Mohit Mohindra, who recently lost the election from Patiala, said, ‘I was not even invited. This dharna was not organized by the party. Former Congress MLA and expelled from the party Surjit Singh Dhiman definitely took part in it. Apart from them, former MLAs Ashwani Shekhari, Navtej Singh Cheema, Nazar Singh Manasahiya and Sukhwinder Singh Kaka Kamboj were also present on the occasion.
Sidhu is taking decisions even after resigning from the post of president
Significantly, Navjot Singh Sidhu had resigned from his post on the orders of Sonia Gandhi after a crushing defeat in the elections. However, even after this, he is constantly taking decisions on his own behalf. Many times he has given dharna on his own behalf against the AAP government. These decisions of his are also being considered as indiscipline.
