Karachi. Currently, one chaos after another is happening in Pakistan cricket. First, after the defeat in the ICC ODI World Cup played in India, there was an uproar regarding team captain Babar Azam and the selection committee and now there is an uproar over the chief selector of the Under 19 team leaving the country after the World Cup team selection to play America T20 League. Used to be.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s decision to allow national junior chief selector Sohail Tanvir to play in the ongoing T20 league in America is being criticized a lot. Cricket experts are raising questions calling it a case of conflict of interest. Tanvir moved to play in the American Premier League (APL) soon after announcing Pakistan’s youth squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
A PCB official said that Tanveer was allowed to play in the league only when he was appointed as the national junior selector. In Pakistan, salaries are given to the posts of senior and junior chief selector and national selector. Tanveer is playing for Premium Paks in the APL and the league is yet to get approval from the American Cricket Council.
The entire episode has brought senior chief selector Wahab Riaz into focus as he is set to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in February and March next year. This is completely opposite to the case of Mohammad Hafeez. Hafeez was playing in various T20 leagues after retiring from international cricket and after becoming the director of the Pakistani team, he announced that he would concentrate only on his job.
Interestingly, some time ago the PCB had forced Inzamam Ul Haq to step down from the post of chief selector on the issue of ‘conflict of interest’. Inzamam had resigned after it was revealed that he was a partner in the sports management company of Mohammad Rizwan and another famous player’s agent Talha Rehman.
