New Delhi. After the defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, the BJP churned on Wednesday. In which it was decided that BJP will no longer contest the elections in partnership with Captain Amarinder Singh. The BJP has decided to fight the by-elections in Sangrur Lok Sabha seat and the elections to 4 corporations on its own. Dushyant Gautam, who was the BJP in-charge in Punjab, said in this meeting that he is preparing to contest the elections on his own. Whatever will be the decision of the rest of the central leadership, we will accept it. BJP state president Ashwani Sharma, co-in-charge Narinder Raina were also present in this brainstorming meeting. Let us tell you, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann had won the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat for the second time in a row. This time he contested from Dhuri seat and became MLA. He had earlier resigned from the Lok Sabha seat before taking oath as the CM. By-elections will be held on this seat soon.
Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala Municipal Corporation elections are also due in Punjab this year. BJP has a good foundation in these cities. This is the reason that she is making up her mind to contest the elections alone from here, whereas till now she has contested the elections in alliance with Akali Dal. Significantly, in the assembly elections, the BJP had an alliance with Captain Amarinder Singh’s party Punjab Lok Congress. The BJP expected a miracle from the Captain, who was the Chief Minister of Punjab for two consecutive terms, but was disappointed. Not only this, the captain could not even save his Patiala seat. None of his party’s candidates could win the election. BJP was also reduced to only 2 seats. Apart from this, SAD Samyukta of the second alliance partner Sukhdev Dhindsa could not even get a single seat.
