Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big disclosure regarding electoral bonds. The Prime Minister said that out of 3 thousand companies that donated through electoral bonds, there are only 26 companies against which ED or CBI took any action. Modi said this in response to the allegation that BJP took donations from companies by putting pressure on them by ED and CBI. The allegation is also that there are many companies against which ED took action and after that they gave money to BJP through electoral bonds. The Prime Minister said that there are only 16 companies against which they bought electoral bonds after the ED action, but out of the electoral bonds of these companies, opposition parties received 63 percent donations and BJP received only 37 percent donations. Giving this example, Modi explained that the allegations of using ED and CBI for electoral bonds are baseless. Modi said those who are opposing electoral bonds today will regret it in the future because the electoral bond scheme was created with good intentions to bring transparency in the money received by political parties. Modi said that if there were no electoral bonds then how would it be known today who has given how much money to whom?
Modi also spoke for the first time on the political use of ED, CBI. He said that out of all the cases registered by ED in the last 10 years, only 3 percent are against political people. The remaining 97 percent of the cases are against economic criminals, like smugglers, drug mafia, officials with benami property. That is why the allegation of misuse of ED and CBI against political opponents is also meaningless. Modi said that those who are making issues of ED, CBI or the appointment of election commissioners, actually know that their defeat is certain, hence they are already looking for excuses. Modi spoke openly and clearly on all the issues about which the people of the country want to know, like electoral bonds, allegations of political use of ED, CBI, Modi’s plan for tax payers, Sanatan during elections and Politicization of Hindutva, Ram Mandir issue and Modi’s future plans. Modi is right that black money is used on a large scale in elections, which needs to be stopped. The Election Commission has revealed on Monday itself that since March 1, Rs 4650 crore has been recovered, cash worth about Rs 100 crore is being recovered every day.
The second big issue in the elections for the opposition parties is the action of ED, CBI. Opposition parties allege that ED and CBI are being used to intimidate opponents and keep them away from election campaign. Modi gave a long answer to this. The Prime Minister said that the first thing is that the laws under which the action is being taken were not made by his government. Secondly, out of all the cases registered by ED, only three percent are against leaders or people associated with political parties. And thirdly, during the tenure of Congress, ED had recovered only Rs 34 lakh in cash whereas in the last 10 years, ED has seized cash worth more than Rs 2200 crore. Modi said that corruption is fatal for the country, hence the fight against corruption will continue with full vigor. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi responded soon after Modi’s interview was aired. Rahul said that electoral bonds are the world’s biggest extortion racket and Modi is the mastermind of extortion through electoral bonds. Rahul said that Modi’s theft has been caught and hence he has to give clarification. Allegations and counter-allegations are a different matter, but it is true that in the interview given by Modi, he enumerated his work of 10 years, told his vision for the coming 25 years and also told what he would do in the first 100 days after forming the government for the third time. Will do, he has prepared a plan for it. This reflects the confidence of Modi’s victory in the coming elections.
The biggest allegation of the opposition parties is that there is no level playing field in this election, Modi used CBI and ED to intimidate the opposition parties, put many leaders in jail and forced many to leave their parties. Modi answered all these questions. On the occasion of elections, a big allegation of the opposition parties is that they lack money to contest the elections because the government has suppressed those who donate to them. Opposition parties say that by threatening ED and CBI, companies were pressurized to donate to BJP through electoral bonds. Modi responded with figures. He claimed that the allegations of politically using ED and CBI are baseless. Modi made a big attack on Congress, targeted Congress for insulting Sanatan. Modi said that DMK’s compulsion is understandable but how did Congress forget its culture? Narendra Modi also talked about the Ram temple and the consecration ceremony and told how the Congress always tried to ensure that the Ram temple could not be built. Obviously, Congress is currently on a weak pitch on the issue of faith. (Rajat Sharma)
