Following the violence that erupted in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Hanuman Jayanti, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled NDMC will conduct an anti-encroachment drive for two days (April 20 and 21, 2022) in the same area. During this, bulldozers will also run on illegal constructions there. MCD has asked 400 Delhi Police personnel in this regard, so that law and order can be maintained there during this time.
Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has surrounded the BJP and AAP. He has said that BJP has waged a war against the poor. In the name of encroachment campaign, they neither give notice nor opportunity. They are now going to destroy the homes of Muslims in Delhi like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Owaisi tweeted, “BJP has declared war against the poor. Like in UP and MP, they will demolish people’s houses in the name of encroachment removal campaign in Delhi. No notice, no opportunity to go to court, just to punish poor Muslims for their courage to survive. Arvind Kejriwal should explain his suspicious role in this regard.”
He wrote in the next tweet, “Is his government’s PWD (Public Works Department) part of this “demolition drive”? Did the people of Jahangirpuri vote for him for such betrayal and cowardice? His repeated refrain “Police are not in our control” (giving this excuse) will not work here. There is no longer even a pretense of legitimacy or morality. It’s a disappointing situation.”
At the same time, on Wednesday (April 20, 2022) morning in the Jahangirpuri violence-affected area, people were seen removing their belongings from the area. A local told news agency ANI- They are collecting the waste material and sending it to another place. By selling these items, they run their house, now it is being removed from here because we have come to know that the bulldozer will come here today.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Delhi unit president Adesh Gupta on Tuesday wrote to the NDMC mayor asking him to find out the illegal constructions of “rioters” in Jahangirpuri and demolish them with bulldozers. A copy of this letter has also been sent to the Commissioner of the Corporation. The NDMC, in a letter to the North Western Deputy Commissioner of Police, said that a special joint anti-encroachment program is scheduled at Jahangirpuri.
Let us inform that during the procession in Jahangirpuri on Saturday, there was a clash between two communities, in which eight police personnel and a local resident were injured. According to the police, stone pelting and arson took place during the clashes and some vehicles were also torched.
