On Wednesday, the hearing was held on a petition seeking re-opening of the case registered against terrorist Bitta Karate, who was accused of killings of Kashmiri Pandits and others in Jammu and Kashmir. During the hearing, the court has asked the relatives of the petitioner victim Satish Tikku to submit a hard copy of the petition. Apart from this, the court has also asked Bitta Karate’s lawyer to file a hard copy.
Let us tell you that after 31 years after the displacement of Kashmiri Pandits, there has been a demand to reopen the case against the terrorist Bitta Karate. The family members of Satish Tikku have filed a petition in the court of Srinagar. Advocate Utsav Bains is representing the family of Satish Tikku. Now the matter will be heard again on April 16.
Bitta Karate was jailed in 1990 for terrorist activities and killings in Kashmir. After his release from jail, he came out as a separatist leader. In an interview, Bitta Karate himself had confessed to about 20 murders. In this interview, Bitta can also be seen saying that if he was asked to kill his mother and brother too, he would never hesitate.
Bitta Karate had told in this interview that he started the killings in the valley along with killing a Kashmiri Pandit Satish Tikku. The real name of Bitta Karate is Farooq Ahmed Dar. According to media reports, Bitta specializes in martial arts, so people started calling him Bitta Karate. There were about one and a half dozen cases registered against Bitta Karate, but in 2006, the TADA court released him on bail.
It is worth noting that in the past, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh had indicated to open the case registered against Bitta Karate and Yasin Malik. In which he had said that no terrorist will be spared and investigation will be done in the cases registered against all. Bitta Karate was associated with JKLF ie Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.
