Amidst protests across the country against rising inflation and continuous increase in the prices of petroleum products, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Kamal Nath has said that people are not getting milk and ration, but they are getting liquor. During the Congress’s protest organized in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, he said that the prices of milk and ration are increasing continuously. It has become cheaper than that.
Petrol and diesel prices, which have remained stable for several months after the elections in five states, are increasing continuously. The price of domestic gas cylinders has also been increased. With the rise in fuel prices, the prices of essential commodities are increasing rapidly. The opposition, including the Congress, is attacking the government regarding this. Congress party is running “Dearness Free India” campaign from Thursday 31 March to 7 April.
Under this, party leaders and workers protested on Thursday in all the states and cities of the country. Former Chief Minister and senior leader Kamal Nath also participated in the dharna organized in Bhopal. He alleged that liquor has become cheaper than milk under the BJP rule. People are not getting milk and ration, but they are getting liquor.
In the country’s capital Delhi, Congress party MPs and other leaders under the leadership of their former president Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in near the Parliament. The MPs staged a sit-in at Vijay Chowk about one and a half hours before the commencement of the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament as part of the Congress’s ‘Dearness Free India’ campaign.
Youth Congress National President Srinivas B.V. tweeted, “The country cannot forgive this loot of the Modi government! skyrocketing fuel prices, expensive daily necessities; Till when will the Modi government loot India?”
He demanded that the government should control the prices of petrol and diesel and stop increasing the prices. The Congress leader alleged, “The price of kitchen gas cylinders has doubled. Now the price of petrol in Delhi has gone up to Rs 102 per liter. The government is doing only one thing – take money out of the pockets of the poor and benefit two-three big industrialists.
